About this resource

A cut-and-sort of the two force and direction words a K-2 or early language program drills: push and pull. Every scene is a small creature (an ant, a beetle, a worm or a cricket) beside an object, with an arrow drawn right on the scene showing the direction — away from the creature for push, back toward it for pull — so a student who cannot yet read the words "push" and "pull" can still see the difference.

What This Is, And What It Is Not

It is a fillable PDF: type into the log, graph, caseload page, family page, and probe-form headers, or print and use a pen. It works offline with no account or subscription. It is NOT an editable online slideshow or word-processor document, and it is not a norm-referenced or standardized test.

It carries no elicitation, cueing or modeling script. It does not decide what counts as a correct push or pull answer, a criterion, or a typical rate for push and pull — every one of those is this adult's own call, written once and reused every session. Pictures replace the objects a clinician or teacher would otherwise have to arrange or draw by hand; they do not replace the scoring rule.

Who This Is For

Speech-language pathologists, early childhood and K-2 special education teachers with young or pre-reading students on a concept-word, receptive, or expressive language goal, and the families who get the practice page sent home. Pairs naturally with Prepositions of Motion Picture Cards (the same mover-and-landmark scene mechanic) and Noun Sort Picture Cards (the same cut-and-sort format) for a caseload working on more than one concept.
