About this resource
A picture card for every word on the probe, so a child who cannot yet read "cat / cats" as text still has something to point at — and every word gets exactly two cards: a ONE card and a MANY card, the same picture repeated. Nine words take the regular +s / +es ending; three take an irregular plural (leaf/leaves changes spelling, fish stays the same, child/children takes its own ending) — singular and plural are always scored separately, never averaged into one number.
WHAT IS INCLUDED — 19 pages, 397 type-in fields
Picture Cards
- 12 words in full color as 24 cut pieces: each word is a separate ONE card and MANY card, side by side, edge to edge in a 6-across, 4-row grid so it cuts with one straight cut per row and per column — 9 regular plurals (cat, dog, book, box, car, ball, shoe, bus, key) in the first three rows and 3 irregular plurals (leaf/leaves, fish/fish, child/children) in the last; big picture, word in large type
- The same 24 pieces again as an ink-saver set in pure black outlines, for the photocopier
- An adult box under the cards (not on the cards, so nothing extra is cut) explaining how each irregular word behaves in the plural, plus the 3 words a child may name another way (box "package," shoe "sneaker," child "kid") so the scoring rule is decided once, before the first probe
Probe And Track
- 3 quick picture probe forms (A, B, C), 4 words each (8 pictures) — every form carries at least one of the three irregular words, so regular and irregular plurals are never practiced as two separate sittings — untimed, singular and plural each marked correct / error / approximation separately; Forms A, B and C together are the whole 12-word bank with no overlap
- Full-Deck Probe — all 12 words on one sheet, scored at singular level and plural level, with a verbatim column for what was actually said
- Data Log — 17 rows: date, form, correct, out of, percent, notes
- Percent Graph — 14 probes across, 0–100 percent grid, a field for the team's own criterion
- Caseload Summary — 16 rows: student, level, baseline, current, trend, decision
Share And Write
- Practice at Home — a family update built from five of the same word pairs used in session (2 regular, all 3 irregular), a weekly practice table, and lines for the plurals a family noticed outside of practice time
- Phrase Bank — 18 observable-language starters across 5 groups (accuracy, what was said, carryover, the log and graph, the caseload page)
- Filled Example — an invented student, eight probes, every percent re-counted from its own row
What This Is, And What It Is Not
It is a fillable PDF: type into the log, graph, caseload page, family page, and probe-form headers, or print and use a pen. It works offline with no account or subscription. It is NOT an editable online slideshow or word-processor document, and it is not a norm-referenced or standardized test.
It carries no elicitation, cueing or modeling script. It does not decide what counts as a correct singular or plural name, a criterion, or a typical rate for plural naming — every one of those is this clinician's own call, written once and reused every session. Pictures replace the printed word list a child cannot yet read; they do not replace the clinician's scoring rule.
Who This Is For
Speech-language pathologists and special education teams with young or pre-reading students on a regular or irregular plural, morphosyntax, or expressive vocabulary goal, and the families who get the practice page sent home.
