About this resource
A picture card for every sign or symbol on the probe, so a child who cannot yet read a word list still has something to look at. Environmental-print naming — the pictures a child actually passes at school and in the community — is a common special-education vocabulary target. Every one of the 13 pictures was checked against both art sets and against every other naming deck already in the store, so nothing here repeats a card sold elsewhere.
WHAT IS INCLUDED — 23 pages, 323 type-in fields
Picture Cards
- 13 safety sign and symbol picture cards in full color, large, one name under each, dashed cut-apart border, split into two groups: Road Signs (6) — stop sign, vertical traffic light, no entry, construction, railway track, police car light; Warning and Rescue (7) — warning, no pedestrians, fire extinguisher, wheelchair symbol, no smoking, safety vest, helmet
- The same 13 cards again as an ink-saver set in pure black outlines, for the photocopier
- A note printed on both card pages naming the 9 pictures a young child may name another way (for example vertical traffic light "stoplight," no entry "do not enter," railway track "train tracks") so the scoring rule is decided once, before the first probe
Sort Mats And Answer Key
- Sort Mat 1 — a faint picture guide for 6 of the 13 cards, three per group, the starter level
- Sort Mat 2 — both full groups, no picture guide, all 13 cards
- Sort Mat 3 — write the word for every card, two columns
- Answer Key — every card, in the group it goes in, plus the "names a child may say instead" list
Probe And Track
- 2 quick picture probe forms, one per group (Form A, the 6 Road Signs pictures; Form B, the 7 Warning and Rescue pictures), untimed, each picture marked correct / error
- Full-Deck Probe — all 13 signs on one sheet, one mark per picture, with a column for the group the child actually chose
- Data Log — 17 rows: date, form, correct, out of, percent, notes
- Percent Graph — 14 probes across, 0–100 percent grid, a field for the team's own criterion
- Caseload Summary — 16 rows: student, last form given, baseline, current, trend, decision
Share And Write
- Signs We Know at Home — a family update built from six of the same pictures used in session, a weekly practice table, and lines for the signs a family noticed outside of practice time
- Phrase Bank — 19 observable-language starters across 5 groups (accuracy, which group, carryover, the log and graph, the caseload page)
- Filled Example — an invented student, eight probes across both forms, every percent re-counted from its own row
What This Is, And What It Is Not
It is a fillable PDF: type into the log, graph, caseload page, family page, and probe-form headers, or print and use a pen. It works offline with no account or subscription. It is NOT an editable online slideshow or word-processor document, and it is not a norm-referenced or standardized test.
It carries no elicitation, cueing or modeling script, and no claim about when or whether a district teaches community-safety signs. It does not decide what counts as a correct answer, a criterion, or a typical rate for naming safety signs — every one of those is this clinician's own call, written once and reused every session. Pictures replace the printed word list a child cannot yet read; they do not replace the clinician's scoring rule.
Who This Is For
Speech-language pathologists and special education teams with young or pre-reading students on an expressive-vocabulary or environmental-print naming goal, and the families who get the practice page sent home.
