About this resource
Sunday night, six groups, three kinds of goals, and a sub plan to write. This puts the whole planning week for a special education teacher on paper in one file: a weekly overview, a monthly planner, small-group and one-to-one lesson plans, a line that ties each lesson back to the goal in the IEP, and the data page you fill in when the group leaves.
EVERYTHING INSIDE — 20 pages
- A weekly overview: 8 block rows by Monday to Friday, plus skills for the week and materials to get ready
- A monthly planner: 6 week rows by Monday to Friday, dates to remember and the month's focus
- A group rotation planner: 6 groups by 3 rotations, with who is at your table first
- A small-group lesson plan: 5 steps (Open, Teach, Practice together, Practice alone, Close), a goal line, an objective line and supports
- A one-to-one lesson plan: goal and target, how we begin, what I will teach, what the student does, supports, what I saw, next time
- IEP goal-linked objective lines: 3 lines, each with a blank for the goal copied word for word from the IEP
- A materials and prep checklist: 12 item rows and a 6-item prep checklist
- An accommodations checklist: 10 rows for the accommodations as the IEP words them, and a 6-item memory jog
- A data and exit check: 12 child rows with tries, correct answers and the next step
- A group tracker across sessions: 14 session rows with a running total
- A reflection page, and a hand-off note for a paraprofessional or substitute
- A phrase bank of 32 starters in 8 groups
- A filled example: one invented group, three invented children, 30 tries and 23 correct, every total re-added from its own rows
- A binder cover, a spine label and 8 cut-apart tabs
- Start Here, a contents page with page thumbnails, and a "what's next" back page
Most lesson plan templates give you one box to fill. This one gives you the week, the month, the lesson, the goal line, the check at the end and the page you leave for the person covering your group.
What This Is, And What It Is Not
It is a fillable PDF: type into the plans, checklists and logs, or print and use a pen. It works offline with no account or subscription. It is NOT a Google Slides, Google Docs or PowerPoint file, and it does not write the plan for you. You cannot drag the boxes around or restyle the pages.
It is the working paper behind your lesson plans. The goal, the accommodations and your school's rules come from the IEP and your school, and each gets a blank line to copy them onto. It does not write, change or judge any goal, and it does not say what a child should get. No health information is filled in. The example group and children are invented and say so on the page. The only cutting is the 8 binder tabs.

Who This Is For
Special education teachers, resource and self-contained teachers, co-teachers and paraprofessionals who plan or run small-group and one-to-one lessons, and the substitutes who cover them. Kindergarten through 8th grade.
