About this resource
Speech sound cue cards with a nickname, the letters, a picture and a plain-word note about where the mouth goes. This is 15 pages for 20 common speech sounds, in two sizes: big cut-out cards for the table and key ring cards for a child to carry. Print, cut, laminate if you like. No prep beyond scissors.
EVERYTHING INSIDE (15 pages)
- 20 sounds: p, b, m, w, t, d, n, l, k, g, f, v, s, z, th, sh, ch, j, r and h. Each card has the letters, a nickname (popcorn sound, snake sound, buzzing bee sound), a picture and one plain-word placement reminder such as "Lips together, then pop them open."
- Big cut-out cards: 20 cards, 4 to a page, cut on the dashed lines.
- Key ring cards: the same 20 sounds, small, 10 to a page, with a punch circle for a binder ring or lanyard clip.
- Color-coded by where the mouth goes: 5 groups (lips, tongue tip, back of tongue, teeth, round and open), one border color each.
- A sound chart with all 20 sounds on one page and a check column.
- 4 blank make-your-own cards for a sound or nickname the set does not have.
- A student take-home page with a name line, a drawing box and 5 stars to color.
- A sound ring record for who has which sounds on their ring.
- Start Here, the terms of use, and a thank-you page with credits.
Choose The Sounds, Choose The Words
The cards are reminders. You pick which sounds a child gets, and the make-your-own page and the ring record are type-in so the words are yours.
Type In, Or Print
The blank cards, the take-home page, the sound chart and the ring record have type-in fields. Print the cards at 100 percent on white cardstock. The card pictures are licensed clip art and print in color or gray. This is a fillable PDF; it is not a Google Slides or PowerPoint file.
Who This Is For
Speech-language professionals, special education and early elementary teachers, and parents who want clear, friendly sound cards in grades PreK-3.
What This Is, And What It Is Not
These are picture cards and working paper. It is not a program, an assessment or a record, and it gives no instruction on how to teach a sound. It has no goal text and no health information about any child.
