About this resource
Most picture-card sentence products put one picture into one blank in a fixed sentence frame. This one builds the whole sentence out of picture cards: a WHO card, a DOING card and a WHAT card sit edge to edge in a three-piece cut strip and read left to right as "The ___ is ___-ing the ___." Cut the strip apart and the same cards mix and match into new sentences -- the skill is subject-verb-object WORD ORDER, not only naming the picture, so every probe form marks whether the three target words were said at all, and separately, whether they came out in the right order.
WHAT IS INCLUDED -- 19 pages, 333 type-in fields
Sentence Cards
- 4 three-piece cut strips in full color -- a WHO card, a DOING card and a WHAT card, edge to edge, so cutting is a few straight lines. Eight WHO pictures (dog, cat, cow, duck, teacher, doctor, baby, firefighter), five DOING pictures (walk, climb, cook, hug, wave) and six WHAT pictures (apple, key, pencil, scissors, umbrella, camera) build eight hand-picked sentences across the deck
- The same 4 strips again as an ink-saver set in pure black outlines, for the photocopier
- A note beside the cards naming the 2 pictures a child may name another way (cook, wave), and that mixing cards on purpose makes some sentences funny -- that is the point of a mix-and-match deck, not a mistake
Probe And Track
- 3 quick probe forms (A, B, C) of 4 sentences each, one mark per sentence. Forms A and B split the 8-sentence bank between them with no overlap; Form C is a fixed mix of 4 of the same sentences, and every form has a "what was said" line
- Full-Deck Probe -- all 8 sentences, scored TWICE: whether the three target words were said, and whether they came out in subject-verb-object order, plus a verbatim column
- Data Log -- 17 rows: date, form, correct, out of, percent, notes
- Percent Graph -- 14 probes across, 0-100 percent grid, a field for the team's own criterion
- Caseload Summary -- 16 rows: student, what is tracked, baseline, current, trend, decision
Share And Write
- Practice at Home -- a family update with the four cut-strip sentences and their pictures, a weekly practice table, and lines for the sentences a family heard outside of practice time
- Phrase Bank -- 17 observable-language starters across 5 groups (accuracy, what was said, carryover, the log and graph, the caseload page), including starters that separate the three-words total from the word-order total
- Filled Example -- an invented student, eight probes, every percent re-counted from its own row, with a verbatim note built around a child who said all three words out of order
What This Is, And What It Is Not
It is a fillable PDF: type into the log, graph, caseload page, family page and probe-form headers, or print and use a pen. It works offline with no account or subscription. It is NOT an editable online slideshow or word-processor document, and it is not a norm-referenced or standardized test.
It gives the cards and the sentences. It carries no elicitation script, no cueing or prompting method and no modeling steps. It does not decide what counts as a correct sentence, a criterion, or a typical rate; each of those is your own call, written once and reused every session.
Who This Is For
Speech-language pathologists and special education teams working on subject-verb-object sentence structure with young or pre-reading students, and the families who get the practice page sent home. If you already own Action Verb Naming Picture Cards, Noun Sort Picture Cards, or the Carrier Phrase Sentence Starter Picture Cards, these pictures will look familiar; the new part is the three-piece cut strip and the two-mark data sheet for words and word order.
