About this resource
Ten more, ten less, one more, and one less — four number operations practiced on a ten frame, within 20, plus a no-pictures page that stretches the same four operations further. Every worksheet has a big "My name" line, one short instruction, and an answer line sized for a child's handwriting.
EVERYTHING INSIDE (23 pages: 7 student pages, 16 for you)
- 8 ten-more items on 1 page — a single ten frame, write the number that is ten more (answers 11–20)
- 8 ten-less items on 1 page — a double ten frame, write the number that is ten less (answers 1–10)
- 12 one-more items across 2 pages — a ten frame each time, write the number that is one more
- 12 one-less items across 2 pages — a ten frame each time, write the number that is one less
- Neighbor Numbers: 6 numbers, no pictures, write all four operations (ten less, one less, one more, ten more) around each one — 24 answers in all, the step past what a ten frame can draw
- 2 answer keys, generated from the same numbers every page uses
- 1 practice tracker (one student, five operations), 1 progress snapshot (a bar graph rolling five scores into one picture), and 1 class grid (whole class), type-in or print
- 1 family update — a note home with blanks for the week's operations and the district's own wording
- 1 home practice page — a second, self-contained practice set for a family to use together, no school materials needed
- 1 filled example — an invented student, every number checked against its own table
- 1 phrase bank — progress-note, family-note, next-step and talk-first starters
- 1 binder cover with a spine label and six divider tabs
- Start Here, a how-it-works page, and a contents page that gives every page number
Every Answer Computed, Never Typed
Every "ten more," "ten less," "one more" or "one less" in this file — on a worksheet page or on either answer key — comes from shifting the start number by the operation itself in code. There is no second, hand-typed key.
Stays Within 20, On Purpose
Every ten-frame page — start number and answer both — stays between 1 and 20, so every number is something a child can actually count on the page. The Neighbor Numbers page is the one page that goes further (numbers into the 80s), and it drops the ten frame on purpose, for the student ready for a number a ten frame cannot draw.
Type In, Or Print
The name and date lines, the answer lines, the Neighbor Numbers table, the tracker, the snapshot, the class grid, the family update and the home page are type-in fields in any PDF reader; every ten frame is always printed, never typed. This is a fillable PDF; it is not a Google Slides, Google Docs or PowerPoint file.
Who This Is For
First- and second-grade classrooms, self-contained and resource rooms, and any small group working on these four operations below or above grade level.
What This Is, And What It Is Not
A ten more/ten less/one more/one less practice set with the record-keeping around it. It is not a full math curriculum, not an assessment, and not a claim about any student's age, grade level or rate of progress. The tracker has a blank line for your own scoring criteria.
