About this resource

The Routine

Pencil out, Listen, Work quietly, Turn-in basket, Quiet read — 5 steps, in a fixed order, every testing day. Every picture is about the physical routine around a test: it never names, shows or describes what is on any test, its subject, or its length.

The Calm Strategy Cards

Six quiet, desk-size choices — teddy bear, headphones, bubbles, drink, puzzle, crayon — not a full request-card-and-board system, just a small set a student (or an adult, for a student who is not yet choosing independently) can offer or pick from directly. It is deliberately smaller than, and does not replace, this store's separate Calm-Down Choice Cards for Special Education, which stays the full system for any time a student needs the calm corner, not only testing days.

What This Is, And What It Is Not

It is a fillable PDF: type into the log, the roll-up, the family page, the hand-off page and the blank cards, or print and use a pen. The card and strip pages print on cardstock or plain paper and cut along dashed lines. It works offline with no account or subscription. It is NOT an editable online slideshow or word-processor document.

It is a posted, numbered picture routine for the physical steps around a test, a small set of quiet choices for before or after it, and a place to record whether a step needed help. It never names, shows, or describes the content of any test. It is NOT a testing accommodation and does not grant or modify one, and it is NOT a test-security or test-administration protocol. It carries no prompt hierarchy, fading schedule or mastery rule, and promises no outcome; how it is used with a student, and for how long, is what your team's plan says. The goal line and the criterion field are blanks for your district's own wording and your team's own number. The log counts one thing per step: whether help was needed, not what kind or in what order to remove it, and it never records test content or results.

Who This Is For

Special education teachers and paraprofessionals who want a consistent testing-day routine for a student who benefits from a posted picture sequence, case managers who need that routine to show up as data, and the families who get the home page sent home.

More In The Collection

This joins Handwashing and Bathroom Sequence Cards, Calm-Down Choice Cards for Special Education, and First Then Board and Activity Picture Cards in the Visual Supports Collection; more picture-card sets — routine strips, choice boards, calm-down cards — are being added to the collection regularly, all on the same cards-plus-data shape.
