About this resource

EVERYTHING INSIDE — 23 pages

A break with a printed length and a written-in strategy, not a count of breaks left and not a fixed picture-card menu. The store's existing break systems answer HOW MANY breaks are left (Break Allowance Countdown Board) or WHICH activity a break uses (Break Cards for Special Education); this one answers HOW LONG one break runs and how a student can see when the strategy and the break are both finished.

The Cards

Cards are 2 inches square; the board slots are the same size, so a card from either the color or the ink-saver set fits either printed board without re-cutting.

The Boards

The boards carry no pictures beyond the small timer-clock icon, so they print the same in color or black and white.

What This Is, And What It Is Not

It is a fillable PDF: type into the board's rows, the log, the roll-up, the family page, the hand-off page and the blank cards, or print and use a pen. The card pages print on cardstock or plain paper and cut along dashed lines. It works offline with no account or subscription. It is NOT an editable online slideshow or word-processor document.

It is a way to show one timed break being used, with its length and its strategy written down. It is not a behavior plan, a point system with rules of its own, or a program of any kind, and it promises no outcome. It carries no prompt hierarchy, fading schedule or mastery rule; how it is used with a student, and for how long, is what your team's plan says. The goal line and the criterion field are blanks for your district's own wording and your team's own number. The log counts two things: how long the break ran, and whether the student returned to task on their own.

Who This Is For

Special education teachers and paraprofessionals who run a timed break system rather than an unlimited or count-based one, case managers who need that system to show up as data, and the families who get the home page sent home.

More In The Collection

This is a companion to Break Allowance Countdown Board and Break Cards for Special Education, not a duplicate of either: those files answer HOW MANY and WHICH; this one answers HOW LONG. More picture-card sets — schedule cards, routine strips, choice boards, calm-down cards — are being added to the Visual Supports Collection regularly, all on the same cards-plus-data shape.
