About this resource
EVERYTHING INSIDE — 21 pages
- An 8-Slot Token Board: eight identical star slots, filled left to right, top row then bottom row, plus one reward slot at the end where a reward card is attached
- Two desk-size Token Boards on one sheet, cut apart, for a folder or a second student
- 12 reward cards, 2 inches square, sized for velcro dots: trophy, medal, crown, balloon, ball, bubbles, ice cream, cookie, candy, headphones, game controller, phone
- Every reward card twice: a full-color set for a laminated board and a black-and-white ink-saver set for the photocopier
- 12 blank reward cards with a type-in word line, for any reward the printed set does not cover
- A how-to page: before the first day, the one move every time, what earns a star (a blank for your team's own list), what to do when the board is not full by day's end, writing down what changes, changing the reward
- A Token Log (16 rows: date, time, slot filled, for completing, board complete Y/N, reward given, initials)
- A weekly roll-up (8 weeks) with a percent-boards-completed graph
- A filled example — an invented student, one full day on the log and three weeks on the roll-up (including two days that did not fill the board), every number re-counted from its own row
- A family page with a kitchen-size board and six home rewards on one sheet
- A hand-off page so a paraprofessional or another classroom runs the same board the same way
- A phrase bank: 23 lines in 6 groups (spoken lines for the board, written starters for the log, the roll-up and the note home)
- A storage and binder label sheet: 11 labels and a spine strip
- Start Here, a contents page with page thumbnails, and a "what's next" back page
A token board that comes with its own data. Most token-board sets stop at the picture; this one adds the log, the weekly roll-up and the phrase bank behind it, so a board traded in for a reward each week turns into a line on a page a case manager can bring to a meeting.
The Board
Eight identical star slots — a star is the reward-progress object itself, placed one at a time as each expected step happens, not a symbol standing in for one. The reward slot at the end holds whichever reward card the student is working toward. Two rows of four, not one row of eight: at this page's usable width, a single row of eight would only just clear a legible print size with no room left for the reward slot; two rows keep every star large and clear. The board carries no pictures beyond the stars themselves, so it prints the same in color or black and white.
The Reward Cards (12)
trophy, medal, crown, balloon, ball, bubbles, ice cream, cookie, candy, headphones, game controller, phone — four distinct groups of three (earned recognition, active/celebration, treats, screen/media) so no two cards read alike at a glance. Every picture was chosen to be named in one word by a young child, in color AND in the black-and-white set; a word that failed in either set was left out of both — "sticker" and "tablet" were both dropped because the closest Unicode pictures read as a price tag and a phone, not the intended object, and the cards are named for what they actually show instead. Cards are 2 inches square.
What This Is, And What It Is Not
It is a fillable PDF: type into the board's name line, the log, the roll-up, the family page, the hand-off page and the blank cards, or print and use a pen. The card pages print on cardstock or plain paper and cut along dashed lines. It works offline with no account or subscription. It is NOT an editable online slideshow or word-processor document.
It is a way to track eight earned stars toward one chosen reward, in pictures. It is not a behavior plan, a point system with rules, or a program of any kind, and it promises no outcome. It carries no prompt hierarchy, fading schedule or mastery rule; what counts as a completed step, who places the star, and what the reward is are what your team's plan says. The goal line and the criterion field are blanks for your district's own wording and your team's own number. The log counts two things: how many stars a day earned, and whether the board was completed and traded in.
Who This Is For
Special education teachers and paraprofessionals who use token or reward-progress systems, case managers who need that use to show up as data, and the families who get the home page sent home.
