About this resource
A picture card for every weak-syllable word on the probe, with the syllable at risk of being dropped printed smaller, lighter and boxed right under the picture — so a child who cannot yet read a word list, and the clinician scoring the session, can both see at a glance which part of "banana" or "telephone" is the weak one.
WHAT IS INCLUDED — 20 pages, 377 type-in fields
Picture Cards
- 12 multisyllabic weak-syllable-deletion words in full color, large, each printed below its picture in syllables with the weak syllable boxed, dashed cut-apart border: banana, tomato, potato, umbrella, computer, spaghetti, gorilla, giraffe, camera, hospital, telephone, kangaroo
- The same 12 cards again as an ink-saver set in pure black outlines, for the photocopier
- A reference card on both card pages showing what each word would read like if its weak syllable were simply dropped (banana → nana, potato → tato, telephone → telphone, and so on), and naming the 1 picture a young child may name another way (telephone, "phone") so the scoring rule is decided once, before the first probe
Probe And Track
- 3 quick picture probe forms (A, B, C), 6 pictures each, untimed: a clean page of pictures only to show the child, and a separate scoring page behind it (word labels with the weak syllable marked, produced / dropped / distorted marks, a score field); Forms A and B split the 12 words with no overlap, Form C re-mixes 6 of them in a new order
- Full-Deck Probe — all 12 words on one sheet, scored with the word said alone and inside a carrier phrase, with a verbatim column for what was actually said, plus a note on using the same blank deck as a re-check
- Data Log — 17 rows: date, form, produced, out of, percent, notes
- Percent Graph — 14 probes across, 0–100 percent grid, a field for the team's own criterion
- Caseload Summary — 16 rows: student, condition, baseline, current, trend, decision
Share And Write
- Practice at Home — a family update built from six of the same pictures used in session, a weekly practice table, and lines for the words a family heard outside of practice time
- Phrase Bank — 18 observable-language starters across 5 groups (accuracy, what was said, carryover, the log and graph, the caseload page)
- Filled Example — an invented student, eight probes, every percent re-counted from its own row
What This Is, And What It Is Not
It is a fillable PDF: type into the log, graph, caseload page, family page, and probe-form headers, or print and use a pen. It works offline with no account or subscription. It is NOT an editable online slideshow or word-processor document, and it is not a norm-referenced or standardized test.
It carries no elicitation, cueing or modeling script. It does not decide what counts as produced, which carrier phrase a goal should use, a criterion, or a typical rate for weak syllable production — every one of those is this clinician's own call, written once and reused every session. Pictures replace the printed word list a child cannot yet read; the boxed syllable discloses where the risk is, it does not score or decide anything about any one child.
Who This Is For
Speech-language pathologists and special education teams working with students on a weak syllable deletion or multisyllabic word target, and the families who get the practice page sent home.
