About this resource
A print-and-go whole body listening set for kindergarten to grade 3: a poster for the wall, a short picture story to read together, practice pages where the student circles the listening choice, and eight cue cards (eyes, ears, mouth, hands, feet, body, brain and heart) to cut apart and hold up. A log and a roll-up count how it goes.
EVERYTHING INSIDE — 28 pages
- A Whole Body Listening poster, 8 body parts with one short line each, in full color and in black-and-white ink-saver (2 pages)
- My Listening Story: 8 short sentences, one picture beside every sentence, over 2 pages, with a box to draw me listening
- Which Is Whole Body Listening?: 6 everyday moments, 3 pictured choices each; the student circles one (2 pages)
- Draw Me Listening: a big drawing box, 3 "My..." write-it boxes and two lines to finish
- My Listening Check: 15 circles (5 days, 3 times a day) for the student to color
- 8 cue cards in full color, cut apart 4 across and 2 down so each cut is one straight line: eyes, ears, mouth, hands, feet, body, brain, heart. Each has a picture, a word and a short line the student can read
- The same 8 cards in black-and-white ink-saver
- 8 blank cards: the student draws a picture and writes their own words on type-in lines
- A how-to page and an answer key for the 6 choice moments, with a space for your school's own rule
- A Cue Card Log (20 rows: date, when, card shown, did it Y/N, initials)
- A weekly roll-up (8 weeks) with a percent graph
- A filled example: an invented student, one week on the log, three weeks on the roll-up and the cards shown across all three
- A family page with 6 small cards to cut apart and a note home
- A hand-off page so a paraprofessional or another classroom uses the same cards the same way
- A phrase bank: 23 lines in 6 groups (spoken lines for the poster, story and cards; written starters for the log, the roll-up and the note home)
- A storage and binder label sheet: 12 labels and a spine strip
- Start Here, a contents page that maps every page, and a "what's next" back page
The Student Pages
Every student page has a "My name" line, one short instruction with a picture, big pictures and big rounded words, and room to circle, color, draw or write. The moments are everyday classroom ones: a story on the rug, a friend talking, standing in line, a direction from the teacher, waiting for a turn, sitting at a desk. The student in the example is invented.
The Cue Cards
8 pictured cards. Hold up one at a time, keep them in a pocket, or put one on the desk. Use a blank card for any idea that is not printed here. Your team decides what listening looks like for each child: leave a card out or draw a different one.
What This Is, And What It Is Not
It is a fillable PDF: type into the name lines, the log, the roll-up, the family page, the hand-off page and the blank cards, or print and use a pen. It works offline with no account or subscription. It is NOT an editable online slideshow or word-processor document.
Who This Is For
Teachers, special education teachers, counselors and paraprofessionals who want a poster, a story and picture cards on listening for kindergarten to grade 3, and the families who get the home page.
