About this resource
A yes/no comprehension task, not a naming task: every card shows the same two-object scene a positional-concepts deck would use, paired with ONE printed sentence about where the small object is. The child looks at the picture, hears or reads the sentence, and answers only Yes or No — the sentence is sometimes true of the picture and sometimes false, so the picture itself is never the thing being judged, only the sentence against it.
WHAT IS INCLUDED — 19 pages, 356 type-in fields
Sentence Cards
- 15 two-object scene cards in full color, each a cut-apart card with its printed sentence and "Yes or No?" underneath. They sit edge to edge on one page (4 across, 4 rows), so 6 straight cuts free the whole deck. 8 cards print a TRUE sentence for their scene, 7 print a FALSE one — and every position word (in, on, under, next to, behind) appears on at least one true card and at least one false card, so no position word is a safe guess on its own
- The same 15 cards again as an ink-saver set in pure black outlines, for the photocopier
- A note printed on both card pages naming the 2 objects a young child may name another way (ball, "soccer ball"; bucket, "pail") so the scoring rule is decided once, before the first probe
Probe And Track
- 3 quick picture probe forms (A, B, C), 5 sentences each, untimed, every form mixing true and false sentences, each marked correct / error / approximation for the Yes/No answer — forms A, B and C together are the whole 15-card bank with no card repeated on more than one form
- Full-Deck Probe — all 15 sentences on one sheet, one row each, the correct answer printed for the examiner, plus a verbatim column for what was actually said
- Data Log — 17 rows: date, form, correct, out of, percent, notes
- Percent Graph — 14 probes across, 0-100 percent grid, a field for the team's own criterion, plus a note on checking for a yes-or-no guessing bias
- Caseload Summary — 16 rows: student, baseline, current, trend, bias noted (favors Yes / favors No / none), decision
Share And Write
- Practice at Home — a family update built from five of the same scenes and sentences used in session, a weekly practice table, and lines for true/false judgments a family noticed outside of practice time
- Phrase Bank — 20 observable-language starters across 6 groups (accuracy, the error pattern, carryover, the log and graph, the caseload page, and comparing true with false sentences)
- Filled Example — an invented student, eight probes, every percent re-counted from its own row
What This Is, And What It Is Not
It is a fillable PDF: type into the log, graph, caseload page, family page, and probe-form headers, or print and use a pen. It works offline with no account or subscription. It is NOT an editable online slideshow or word-processor document, and it is not a norm-referenced or standardized test.
It carries no elicitation, cueing or modeling script. It does not decide what counts as a correct Yes/No answer, a criterion, or a typical rate for yes/no sentence comprehension — every one of those is the clinician's own call, written once and reused every session. The scenes replace the real objects a clinician would otherwise have to arrange by hand; they do not replace the clinician's scoring rule.
