About this resource
Which AR books a student has read, what each quiz scored, how many points that earned, and how close that puts them to their points goal. This is a plain book log and points tracker, not a timed reading probe: there is no scoring algorithm, no connection to an AR account, and no reading-level claim anywhere in this file.
WHAT IS INCLUDED - 18 pages, a points and passing-score guide, six tracking sheet formats, a points goal thermometer, a caseload roster, a progress snapshot, a family update, and a phrase bank
Setup
- How This Tracking System Works - four steps and a walk-through of which page to use for which situation
- How the Type-In Fields Work - one page, so nobody emails you, plus what this resource is and is not alongside AR
- AR Points and Passing Score Guide - a blank reference page; write in your own school's passing score, point values, and goal-setting rules (this file sets none of its own)
- Caseload AR Roster - 21 rows: student, points goal, points total, last quiz date, next check due
Six Tracking Sheet Formats
- Individual AR Book Log & Quiz Tracking Sheet - 18 rows, book by book: quiz date, book title/author, quiz score %, points earned, passed quiz, notes. The detailed, one-student version.
- Quick AR Check-In Log - 22 rows, one row per day instead of per book: date, points earned, running total, note. The fast version for when there is no time for book-by-book detail.
- Small-Group AR Reading Log - 16 rows, one shared book list, 4 students tracked side by side as each quiz is scored.
- Caseload AR Points Overview - 18 rows, one per student: points total, points goal, books completed, last quiz date. The whole caseload at a glance.
- AR Points Goal Thermometer & Running Total - a visual thermometer with no percent pre-set, plus a 9-row running-total table (date, book, points earned, running total, % of goal) so a buyer colors in exactly their own goal.
- Home AR Reading Log - 10 rows for a family to log at-home reading minutes between quizzes (no scores or points on this page by design).
Reporting And Communication
- AR Progress Snapshot - 12 rows, review period by review period: points earned this period, running total, % of goal, books completed, trend. No graph: counts only, for a meeting.
- Family and Team Update - a short note naming the book a student is reading right now, points earned since the last update, and what is planned next.
- Observation and Notes Phrase Bank - 18 observable-language sentence starters across five categories (book choice and engagement, quiz performance, conditions and support, patterns across several books, progress toward the goal), every one ending in a blank for what was actually seen.
- A Tracking Sheet, Filled In - an invented fourth grader, five quizzes (including one retake), the book log, the points goal thermometer, and the progress snapshot all built from the same rows, with the running-total arithmetic shown.
- Binder Cover and Divider Tabs - a cover page and four divider tabs (Setup, Tracking, Summary, Home) to print, cut, and drop into a three-ring binder.
What This Is, And What It Is Not
It is a fillable PDF: open it in a PDF reader, click a line or a cell, type, and Save As once per student or group. It works offline with no account or subscription. It is not a Google Sheets file, a Google Doc, or an Excel workbook, it does not connect to an AR account, and it does not calculate points or a passing score for you.
It is NOT the Accelerated Reader (AR) platform itself, and it does not reproduce AR's book list, quizzes, point values, or reading-level scale. It is a standalone tracking document for use alongside AR. Every book title, score, point value, and passing-score field is blank for you to fill in from your own AR account and your school's own rules.
This resource is for use alongside Accelerated Reader (AR) to track a student's own book log and points progress. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Renaissance Learning, Inc. "Accelerated Reader" and "AR" are trademarks of Renaissance Learning, Inc.
Who This Is For
Special education teachers, general education teachers running AR in their classroom, case managers, reading interventionists, and the paraprofessionals and families who help a student track books and points between quizzes.
