About this resource
A book companion for a PreK, kindergarten or self-contained class to use after reading the picture book. Children put a four-step story in order, load a truck by sorting animals and valentines, learn eight word cards, label the parts of a truck, answer yes or no and who, what and where questions, and write a valentine and a kind deed. Every student page has one short instruction with a picture, so a paraprofessional can run the table from the page itself.
This resource is made for use with the picture book *Little Blue Truck's Valentine*. The book is not included. This resource is not affiliated with or endorsed by the author, illustrator or publisher of the book. The truck, story steps, questions and pages are original to Bright Path Sped; no text or picture from the book is in this file.

Two Levels, Marked With Shapes
The glue and sort pages come at two levels, marked with a circle and a triangle instead of a number, so children at one table are not comparing papers. Both levels use the same cut cards, so a child can move up without new cutting.
Cutting Built For Small Hands
There are 4 cutting pages with 32 pieces in all (6 story cards, 12 sort cards, 8 word cards and 6 question cards). Every piece sits edge to edge in a grid, so each cut is one straight line.
Prep
Print, then cut. You need scissors, glue sticks and crayons. Print the cut pages on card stock if you want them to last; everything else works on paper.
What This Is, And What It Is Not
A print-and-cut PDF. It is not a fillable PDF and it is not Google Slides or a PowerPoint file. The farm animals and valentine pictures are Whimsy Clips art; the blue truck is drawn for this unit; the fonts are KA Fonts. The file is secured so the art cannot be lifted out of it. The story steps and questions are our own, so change them to match how your class retells the book.
Who This Is For
PreK, kindergarten and 1st grade teachers, speech and language teachers, and special education teachers setting up a valentine book week for a self-contained or resource room with sequencing, vocabulary, WH and yes/no questions, cutting, gluing and writing stations that need no prep beyond cutting.
How To Use It
Day 1, read the book and cut the story and word cards. Day 2, glue the story in order and retell it. Day 3, load the truck. Day 4, label the truck, answer yes or no and play with the WH cards. Day 5, trace, write a valentine and a kind deed, and color.
