About this resource
Long range plans you can type into and print. Fill in the whole school year, September to June, by month and by subject, then print it for the front of your binder. Nothing is pre-filled: every unit line and every standards line is blank, so the plan is yours and the standards are your district's own wording.
EVERYTHING INSIDE (26 pages)
- A Year at a Glance grid: 10 months by 5 subjects (English language arts, math, science, social studies and specials), plus a weeks column and a total for the year.
- A unit sequence with 14 unit rows: title, subject, start month, weeks and a blank standards cell.
- A calendar overview for 10 months: days off and events, testing and reporting dates, and notes.
- A quarter overview with all 4 quarters on one page.
- 5 subject pages, one for each subject, with 10 months each and 4 blank standards lines at the bottom. Reading, writing and word study columns for ELA; unit, key skills and fluency for math; and art, music, PE and library columns for specials.
- A unit planner for one unit: big idea, I can statements, vocabulary, materials, how you check learning and supports.
- A week-by-week pacing page with 8 weeks.
- A standards tracker with 14 blank lines and Q1 to Q4 columns.
- A note to families, "Our Year Ahead", and a page to share with a co-teacher or support staff.
- 12 planning starters (sentence starters for goals, I can statements and checking).
- A binder cover and 8 divider tabs to cut apart.
- A filled-in Year at a Glance and a filled-in unit for an invented teacher and an invented grade 3 class, with the totals added up on the page.
- Notes, an end-of-year reflection, Start Here, a how-to page, the terms of use and a thank-you page with credits.
How To Edit
Open the PDF in Adobe Acrobat Reader, Preview or your browser. Click a cell and type. Save As to keep your plan for next year. 723 type-in fields in all. This is a fillable PDF, not a slide deck or a spreadsheet, so there is nothing to ungroup or unlock.
Print Tips
Print on letter paper at 100 percent. The grids use thin dark lines, so they copy well in black and white and you can also write in any cell by hand. Print a fresh copy each quarter and write changes in pen.
Your Standards, Your District
This file has no standards in it and no curriculum. Every standards line is blank for you to type your own. Your school decides what a plan must include.
Who This Is For
Any classroom teacher, special education or resource teacher, co-teacher or single-subject teacher who wants the year on a few pages. The subject pages work for any grade.
What This Is, And What It Is Not
A set of blank planning pages with one filled example. It is not a pacing guide and does not pick your units for you. The example teacher and class are invented and labeled that way on the page.
