About this resource
The TRC instructional reading level and the foundational-skill checks mClass reports, kept in one place across Fall, Winter, and Spring instead of three separate files or screenshots. This is a plain benchmark-window record, not a timed reading probe: there is no fluency rate, no scoring algorithm, and no connection to an mClass account anywhere in this file.
WHAT IS INCLUDED - 18 pages, a blank level/category reference, six tracking sheet formats, a progress growth record, a caseload roster, a progress snapshot, a family update, and a phrase bank
Setup
- How This Tracking System Works - four steps and a walk-through of which page to use for which situation
- How the Type-In Fields Work - one page, so nobody emails you, plus what this resource is and is not alongside mClass
- TRC Level Bands & Foundational-Skill Categories Reference - a blank reference page; write in your own district's level bands, category names, and decision rules (this file sets none of its own)
- Caseload mClass Roster by Window - 21 rows: student, current TRC level, last window tested, date, next window due
Six Tracking Sheet Formats
- Individual mClass Window-by-Window Tracking Sheet - 14 rows: window/date, TRC level, and three foundational-skill checks (Letter Names & Sounds, Blending & Segmenting, High-Frequency Words). The detailed, one-student version.
- Quick mClass Entry Log - 20 rows, just the numbers: window/date, TRC level, a skill-check flag, a note. The fast version for when there is no time for the full breakdown.
- Small-Group mClass Tracking Sheet - 14 rows, one shared window/date column, 4 students tracked side by side as each student's window is scored.
- Caseload mClass Overview - 18 rows, one per student: TRC level and the three skill-check scores for the window just finished.
- Progress Growth Record - the same student's TRC level and skill checks carried Fall, Winter, and Spring, plus 9 rows for optional interim checks between windows.
- General Education / Interventionist Quick Reference - a simplified one-student card: current TRC level, one skill-check focus area, and one instructional note, for a second adult who does not need the full tracking history.
Reporting And Communication
- mClass Progress Snapshot - a 9-row window-by-window table (TRC level and all three skill checks side by side) for a team meeting, with no graph.
- Family and Team Update - a short note naming the student's most recent TRC level, what changed since the last update, and the next window planned.
- Observation and Notes Phrase Bank - 16 observable-language sentence starters across five categories (TRC reading behavior, letter names and sounds, blending and segmenting, high-frequency words, patterns across windows), every one ending in a blank for what was actually seen.
- A Tracking Sheet, Filled In - an invented second grader, three benchmark windows, with the individual tracking sheet, the progress growth record, and the progress snapshot all built from the same rows.
- Binder Cover and Divider Tabs - a cover page and four divider tabs (Setup, Tracking, Summary, Hand-Off) to print, cut, and drop into a three-ring binder.
What This Is, And What It Is Not
It is a fillable PDF: open it in a PDF reader, click a line or a cell, type, and Save As once per student or group. It works offline with no account or subscription. It is not a Google Sheets file, a Google Doc, or an Excel workbook, it does not connect to an mClass account, and it does not score or correlate levels for you.
This resource is for use alongside mClass to track a student's own benchmark-window results. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Amplify Education, Inc. "mClass" is a trademark of Amplify Education, Inc.
Who This Is For
Special education teachers, general education teachers giving mClass in their classroom, case managers, reading interventionists, and the paraprofessionals and co-teachers who need a student's current level without the full tracking history.
