About this resource
Children need a number line they can see from their seat, hold at their desk and hop on. This is a 27-page Number Line to 20 set: a wall number line from 0 to 20 to cut and tape (color and ink-saver), desk strips in 4 designs, fill-in number lines, jump mats for hopping forward and back within 20, and the teacher pages to run it. Print what you need, or type into the pages first.
WHAT IS INCLUDED (27 pages)
- A wall number line, 0 to 20, in 3 pieces (0 to 6, 7 to 13, 14 to 20). Cut on the dashed lines and tape the pieces in order: the line is about 22 inches long. One page in color, one page in an ink-saver version.
- 28 desk strips on 4 cut pages, in 4 designs: one long line from 0 to 20 (4 strips on a page, for you to cut and laminate), a two-row number line (8 strips on a page), number boxes (8 on a page) and a blank line to write the numbers on (8 on a page). The pieces sit edge to edge, so each cut is one straight line.
- 3 fill-in pages (18 lines in all, with 108 blanks to fill) in three levels: most numbers shown, about half shown, and only the first and last shown.
- 6 jump mats (hop worksheets) with 18 problems: hop forward, hop back, and mixed. Add and subtract within 20, with the hops drawn for some, drawn by the child for some, and written as a number sentence for some. Three levels marked with a circle, square and triangle.
- Student pages have a big "My name" line, one short direction with a picture and room to write.
- Teacher pages: Start Here with a which-page-when table, an answer key for all 18 jump mat problems, a number check (21 numbers, 4 skills), a class roll-up with room for 14 children, a filled example (an invented child and an invented class), a family letter, a phrase bank of 20 starters in 5 groups, a what's-next page, terms of use and a thank-you page.
- A finished page with a star to color and number boxes to color a favorite number.
How To Use It
Hang the wall line and point to a number each morning. Tape a desk strip to every desk. Start with the fill-in lines, then try a jump mat: put a finger on the start number, hop one number at a time, say each number you land on, and write the last one. Use the answer key to check, and the number check and roll-up to see who needs what next.
Built For The Child Holding The Page
Every student page has a big "My name" line, one short direction with a picture, big plain numbers in a rounded school font and room to write. The wall line comes in color and in an ink-saver version, and every student page reads in black and white too.
Type In, Or Print
The name lines, the answer boxes on the fill-in pages and jump mats, the number check, the roll-up, the family letter and every notes area are type-in fields in any PDF reader. You can also print any page and write by hand. Print at 100 percent with fit-to-page turned off so the wall pieces tape together. This is a fillable PDF; it is not a Google Slides or PowerPoint file.
Who This Is For
PreK to 2nd grade classrooms, self-contained and resource rooms, and anyone who wants a number line from 0 to 20 on the wall and on every desk.
What This Is, And What It Is Not
Classroom number lines and working paper for counting, ordering numbers and adding and subtracting within 20. It is not a full math curriculum, an assessment or a therapy program, and it makes no health claims. Your school decides what a child should be able to do and when; the pages give you a blank to write your own notes.
