About this resource

This is 23 pages for the whole conference week: an invitation with a reply slip, a family form, a sign-up sheet, a schedule, teacher notes, a kindergarten skills snapshot with checkboxes, three handouts for families, a goal plan, a thank-you note and door signs. Open it in any PDF reader, type, click the squares, and print.
EVERYTHING INSIDE (23 pages)
- Conference invitation and reply slip: type your date and time, families check a square to say yes, ask for a different time or ask for a phone call.
- A family form, "What I Would Like You to Know," with 5 boxes for families to fill in before the meeting.
- A sign-up sheet with 14 lines and a schedule with 12 time slots.
- A full teacher notes sheet and a quick-notes page with 2 short notes on one sheet.
- A kindergarten skills snapshot: 7 skills (names letters, knows letter sounds, counts objects, writes numbers, uses pencil and scissors, writes own name, shares and takes turns), each with 3 squares: I see it, Working on it, Not yet. No scores, no grade-level targets.
- A three-conference roll-up: the same 7 skills across 3 conferences on one page.
- 3 word-only "Ways to Help at Home" handouts: Letters and Sounds, Counting and Numbers, Hands and Hearts. Each has a "this week I will try" checkbox list and room for your own idea.
- A goal plan for the family and teacher, and a "My Goal" page for the child with a big name line and a drawing box.
- A phrase bank with 12 sentence starters: sharing strengths, talking about what you are working on, and asking the family.
- A thank-you note to send home after the conference.
- 2 door signs: Conference in Progress and Kindergarten Conferences.
- A filled-in example for an invented child, with the squares added up on the page.
- Start Here, how-to, terms of use and a thank-you and credits page.
How To Edit
Open the PDF in Adobe Acrobat Reader, Preview or your browser. Click a line, a box or a table cell and type, or click a square to check it. Save As with a child's initials to keep a copy for each family. 255 type-in fields and 75 checkboxes in all. This is a fillable PDF, not a slide deck, so there is nothing to ungroup or unlock.
Print Tips
Print on letter paper at 100 percent. The lines and boxes are thick and dark, so the pages copy well in black and white. Print the handouts on colored paper if you like.

Who This Is For
Kindergarten teachers holding fall, winter or spring parent teacher conferences. Also handy for pre-K and first grade.
What This Is, And What It Is Not
A set of forms. It does not grade, score or label any child, it lists no norms or age expectations, and it has no meeting script or school policy. The squares record what you see in your own room. You choose the words and the goals.
