About this resource
Every word has a job, and now the wall can show it. This is 34 pages: 8 parts of speech posters, a bulletin board banner, word wall sort headers, sort cards to cut, sentence hunts and the teacher pages behind them. Print what you need, or type the room name and notes before you print.
EVERYTHING INSIDE (34 pages)
- 8 full-page posters: noun, verb, adjective, adverb, pronoun, conjunction, preposition, interjection. Each has a definition in kid words, 4 example words and a picture example sentence with the target word colored.
- A bulletin board banner (Parts of Speech Word Wall) with a type-in room name piece, in color and in an outline version for children to color.
- 8 word wall sort headers, one per part of speech, in color and in ink-saver.
- 27 sort cards in two sets: set 1 has 12 cards for noun, verb and adjective; set 2 has 15 cards for the other five. Two sort mats, and each card set comes in color and ink-saver.
- 41 pieces to cut, each printed twice (82 across eight cut sheets), edge to edge so each cut is one straight line.
- 2 sentence hunt pages (find and circle, find and box), with pictures and room to write.
- 2 "My own sentence" pages in 2 levels, marked with a circle and a square.
- Teacher pages: how to use it (5 short routines), a board plan, an answer key, a class roll-up with a filled example (an invented class), a family letter, a phrase bank of 20 starters in 5 groups, and a binder cover with spine and 4 tabs.
- Terms of use and a thank-you page.
How To Use It
Hang the posters and tape the banner above them. Hang the headers over a word wall and add words as children find them in books and on signs. Children cut the sort cards, sort them on a mat, say a sentence with each word, then glue. Check with the key, mark the roll-up and send the family letter home.
Built For The Child Holding The Page
Every student page has a big "My name" line, one short direction with a picture, big writing space and primary handwriting lines. Pictures are friendly clip art of many kinds of kids. Cut pages come in a color set and an ink-saver set, and everything reads in black and white too.
Type In, Or Print
The name lines, the banner room name, the class roll-up, the family letter and every notes area are type-in fields in any PDF reader (171 fields in all). You can also print any page and write by hand. Print at 100 percent with fit-to-page turned off. This is a fillable PDF; it is not a Google Slides or PowerPoint file.
Who This Is For
PreK to 5th grade classrooms, self-contained and resource rooms, and anyone who wants a grammar word wall that children can read and touch.
What This Is, And What It Is Not
Working paper and room decoration. It is not a curriculum, a test or a grade-level standard, and it promises no outcome.
