About this resource
EVERYTHING INSIDE — 17 pages
- A Good News Folder cover and 4 section tab labels with a spine strip: type your name, class and tabs, then print
- 8 "Good news from school!" notes to cut: to the family of, today I saw, from, date
- 6 praise postcards with a stamp square and a "I was proud when" line
- 12 "Caught being great" picture notes (Kind to a friend, Great helper, Tried hard, Good listener, Brave today and 7 more), each with a picture and a name line
- 8 blank notes: type your own words on the lines before you print
- A weekly good-news tracker: 13 rows for the day sent, what you saw, which note and whether it came back
- A class checklist: 16 student rows across 8 weeks, with a Total, so every child gets one
- A letter to families with blanks in your own words
- 8 "Good news from home!" cards a family can send back
- A student page, My Good News: write, draw and circle how I feel
- A phrase bank of 32 starters in 8 groups, for kindness, hard work, helping, opening and closing lines, family replies and student words
- A filled example: six invented students, four weeks, every total re-added from its own row
- Start Here, a contents page with page thumbnails, and a "what's next" back page
That is 42 notes and cards to cut. Every cut page is edge to edge: 8 to a page (one cut down, three across), 6 postcards (one cut down, two across) and 12 small notes (two cuts down, three across), so there are no tiny scraps. Print on cardstock.
What This Is, And What It Is Not
It is a fillable PDF: type into the notes, tracker and checklist, or print and use a pen. It works offline with no account or subscription. It is NOT a Google Slides or Google Docs file, and you cannot drag the boxes around or restyle the pages.
It is a working paper for sending good news. A note says one true thing a child did. It is not a grade, a score or a reward system, and it does not say how often to send notes or what your school expects. That is your routine, and your plan gets a blank line on the family letter. The students and the teacher in the example are invented and say so on the page.
Who This Is For
Kindergarten through 8th grade classroom teachers, special education teachers, paraprofessionals and specialists who want a quick, warm way to tell families something good, and a way to be sure no child is missed.
