About this resource
Reindeer day for your classroom in one print-and-go pack: a reindeer helper application on three levels, meet the reindeer with three true facts, a true-or-false page, a reindeer head to color, cut and glue, a REINDEER DAY banner, a reindeer food label, a food sequence, a winter-or-summer sort, counting on three levels and a note to a reindeer on three levels. For PreK to 2nd grade and special education classrooms.
Start with the picture schedule: six stations with a picture and a check box each, so every child can see the plan for the day. Station 1 is meet the reindeer: children read three true facts (reindeer grow antlers, live in cold places and eat lichen) and answer six true-or-false sentences ("Reindeer live in herds" is true, "Reindeer live in the ocean" is false). Station 2 is the helper office: children draw themselves as a reindeer and fill in a helper application (circle what you can do, finish the sentences, or write the whole application). Station 3 is the workshop: one big reindeer head with antlers, ears, a scarf and a red nose is cut into 6 equal squares in two columns and three rows, so every cut is a straight line. Color the black-and-white pieces, cut them out and glue each piece on its faint twin; every glue box is exactly the size of its piece. Then color and cut 8 flags that spell REINDEER and glue them in order to make a REINDEER DAY banner.
Station 4 is the food table: trace the words on a reindeer food label, draw what goes in the bag and draw a reindeer eating the food, then cut 5 cards and glue 4 of them in order (First, Next, Then, Last) to show how reindeer food is made, with 1 card that does not belong. Station 5 is sort and count: cut 6 picture cards and sort them into winter or summer, then count on three levels (circle the number, write the number, or add two groups and write the number sentence). Station 6 is the mail room: a note to a reindeer with a stamp, where children circle one thing to share and draw, finish three sentence starters with a word bank, or write freely.
Every student page has a "My name" line and one short instruction with a picture. The clip art is bright and friendly, the writing lines are big, and there is room to draw and write on every page.

Cutting Built For Small Hands
Every cutting page has big pieces lined up edge to edge, so each cut is a straight line: 2.0 inches for the reindeer head pieces, 1.85 inches for the banner flags, 2.5 by 2.2 inches for the sorting cards and 1.5 inches for the food cards. 25 pieces to cut in all (6 reindeer head pieces, 8 banner flags, 6 sorting cards and 5 food cards). You will need crayons, scissors and glue sticks. Card stock suits the craft pages.
Three Skill Levels
Three small shapes beside the name line mark each leveled page (circle, square or triangle), with this page's shape dark. Easier: circle and draw, or a partner who holds the glue stick. Harder: write the application yourself, add two groups, or write the note on lines.
Who This Is For
PreK to 2nd grade classrooms, self-contained special education classrooms, and paraprofessionals who want a December reindeer day that is ready to print, with stations you can rotate or spread over a week.
