About this resource
Stop writing sub plans at 6 a.m. when you are too sick to think. And stop handwriting the same schedule into the same binder every August.
This is the Special Education Sub Binder as a fillable PDF: the same 64 pages that give a substitute everything they need to run a self-contained, resource, or life-skills classroom without calling you, plus a page on how the fields work. Every line, box and table cell is a type-in field. Type the pages that change once a year, print them, and the sub still writes on paper.
WHAT IS INCLUDED - 65 pages, 8 tabbed sections, 1,100+ fillable fields
Section 1 - Read This First
- Welcome, Substitute letter, Our Classroom at a Glance, and the Ten Non-Negotiables page every sub must read.
Section 2 - Schedules
- Daily schedule, related services and pull-out schedule, specials / lunch / recess / bus, and a weekly at-a-glance.
Section 3 - Staff And Paras
- Paraprofessional roster and roles, para duty grid, who to call, coverage plan, and other adults in and out of the room.
Section 4 - Students At A Glance
- Student Snapshot (one per student, Save As each), class roster, accommodations quick reference, communication supports, medical / allergy / seizure alert, toileting and feeding log, bus and dismissal plan.
Section 5 - Behavior
- Expectations and reinforcement system, behavior plan at a glance, De-escalation: Do This, Not That, the escalation cycle, elopement and safety protocol, daily point sheet, ABC incident log, behavior quick reference.
Section 6 - Visual Supports
- Two sets of visual schedule cards, first / then board, break / help / request cards, choice board, transition countdown cards, feelings check-in chart. Print and cut; these are not typed.
Section 7 - Emergency Sub Plans
- Three full no-prep days (All About Us, Sorting and Categories, Life Skills Day), a morning meeting script, a read-aloud discussion frame, an independent work menu, and three student activity pages.
Section 8 - Sub Feedback
- End-of-day substitute report, student-by-student notes, supplies / repairs / messages, and a thank-you page.
Plus two binder cover designs, spine labels, eight tabbed section dividers, and the 20-minute setup guide with its priority checklist.
The Print Version
What This Is, And What It Is Not
It is a fillable PDF. Open it in a PDF reader, click a line, a box or a table cell, type, press Tab to move on, and Save As with the school year in the name. It works offline with no account or subscription. It is NOT a Google Slides deck, a Google Doc, or a PowerPoint file; you cannot add pages or move the boxes. Prefer paper? Print it blank; the fields print as ordinary rules and cells.
Who This Is For
Self-contained, resource, life-skills, autism and multi-needs classrooms, PreK through 12th grade. Also useful for case managers, intervention specialists, and anyone building a classroom emergency folder.
