About this resource
A print-and-go visual schedule for toddlers and preschoolers, at home or in an early childhood room. Big picture cards show the parts of the day, a My Day poster and a fillable day strip hold them in order, and First-Then boards show what happens now and what comes after. Show one card, say the word, and do it together.
EVERYTHING INSIDE — 33 pages
- A My Day poster: morning, afternoon and night, 12 pictures with words (color page and black-and-white ink-saver page)
- A day strip: 9 numbered boxes for the cards, with a type-in line under each for a time or a word
- Pocket strips: 3 rows of 6 boxes (morning, afternoon, night) sized for the pocket cards
- First-Then boards: a big FIRST and THEN board, and a FIRST, THEN and ALL DONE board
- 24 big-picture routine cards to cut, 12 a page, 3 across and 4 down, cut on the dashed lines: good morning, potty, wash hands, get dressed, breakfast, play, snack, lunch, nap, books, dinner, bath, outside, bubbles, car ride, shopping, music, dance, cooking, hug, phone call, bye-bye, goodnight and bed
- The same 24 cards in black-and-white ink-saver (2 pages)
- The same 24 as pocket cards, 6 across and 4 down, for a bag or a pocket
- 12 blank cards: the child draws a picture and you write the word
- What Comes Next? 9 questions on 3 pages: the child looks at two cards and circles what comes next
- My Day Stars: 12 stars to color, one for each part of the day
- Draw My Day: morning, afternoon and night to draw, with a line to write one word
- A how-to page with the answers to the 9 questions
- A Day Card Log (20 rows: date, when, card shown, went with it Y/N, initials)
- A weekly roll-up (8 weeks) with a percent graph
- A filled example: an invented child, one week on the log, three weeks on the roll-up and the cards by part of the day
- A family page with 6 small cards to cut apart and a note home
- A hand-off page so a sitter, grandparent or another room uses the same cards the same way
- A phrase bank: 23 lines in 6 groups (spoken lines for the cards, strips and boards; written starters for the log, the roll-up and the note home)
- A storage and binder label sheet: 12 labels and a spine strip
- Start Here, a contents page that maps every page, and a "what's next" back page
The Child'S Pages
Every page the child uses has a "My name" line, one short instruction with a picture, big pictures and big rounded words, and room to circle, color, draw or write. The child in the filled example is invented.
How To Use It
Start with two or three cards for the part of the day you want to show first, in the first boxes of the day strip. Add a card when the day is ready for one. Use First-Then when one thing has to come before another. Blank cards hold anything the printed cards do not.
What This Is, And What It Is Not
It is a fillable PDF: type into the name lines, the strips, the boards, the log, the roll-up, the family page, the hand-off page and the blank cards, or print and use a pen. It works offline with no account or subscription. It is NOT an editable online slideshow or word-processor document.
Who This Is For
Parents, caregivers, preschool and early childhood teachers, and special education teachers and paraprofessionals who want the day in big pictures, for PreK and kindergarten and home use.
