About this resource
Yes no questions for speech therapy sessions, the classroom and small groups: 48 simple everyday question cards, big YES and NO answer tiles, worksheets with room to write and a data sheet. The student reads or hears a question, shows a YES or NO tile (or says it), and you mark it against the key. You choose the targets.
EVERYTHING INSIDE — 32 pages
- 48 yes/no question cards in 6 sets of 8, cut apart 2 across and 4 down so each cut is one straight line: Animals; Food and Drinks; Home and Things; School; Nature and Weather; Places and Helpers. Every set has 4 YES and 4 NO (24 and 24 in all). Words only, no pictures
- 16 big answer tiles on 2 pages (8 YES, 8 NO), cut the same way. YES has a check mark and NO a cross, so they read in black and white
- Try One Together: a worked question, step by step (read, think, show a tile, say it)
- Circle YES or NO: 3 pages, 18 questions (none repeated from the cards), a big YES box and NO box beside each
- Say It in a Sentence: 4 questions, circle the answer and write it
- Make My Own Question: a page for a student to write, draw and test a question on a friend, with a three-circle check
- 8 blank cards for your own questions
- A how-to page and an answer key for every question in the file
- A Trial Data Sheet (20 rows: date, set, card number, what the student said, plus or minus, your own prompt code, initials)
- A weekly roll-up (8 weeks) with a percent graph
- A filled example: an invented student, one week on the data sheet and three weeks on the roll-up
- A family page with 6 small cards to cut apart and a note home
- A hand-off page so another adult or room asks the questions the same way
- A phrase bank: 23 lines in 6 groups (spoken lines, and written starters for the data sheet, the roll-up and the note home)
- A storage and binder label sheet: 12 labels and a spine strip
- Start Here, a contents page that maps every page, and a "what's next" back page
The Questions
Is a dog an animal? Can a cow fly? Is ice cream cold? Do you eat a shoe? Every question is a plain, everyday, factual one with a clear answer. There are no health, family or personal questions.
The Student Pages
Every student page has a "My name" line, one short instruction, big rounded words, and room to circle or write. 22 worksheet questions in all (18 circle-and-answer, 4 say-it-in-a-sentence).
What This Is, And What It Is Not
It is a fillable PDF: type into the name lines, the writing lines, the data sheet, the roll-up, the family page, the hand-off page and the blank cards, or print and use a pen. It works offline with no account or subscription. It is NOT an editable online slideshow or word-processor document.
Who This Is For
Speech-language pathologists, special education teachers, classroom teachers and paraprofessionals working with students in PreK-3, and the families who get the home page.
