About this resource
Picture cards for the /r/ sound at the start of a word (prevocalic position): a large, nameable picture for every probe word, so a child who cannot yet read a word list still has something to look at. Same probe-and-graph engine as this store's articulation packs, streamlined for one sound position, in color and in an ink-saver black-and-white set.
WHAT IS INCLUDED — 17 pages, 294 type-in fields
Picture Cards
- 6 picture cards, large, one word under each, dashed cut-apart border, in full color and again in ink-saver black and white
- Prevocalic /r/ words: rabbit, rose, rooster, roller skate, racing car, razor (the razor card shows a shaving razor — this is disclosed on the card itself)
Probe And Track
- 3 picture probe forms (A, B, C), 6 pictures each, untimed, each picture marked correct / error / approximation
- Data Log — 18 rows: date, form, correct, out of, percent, notes
- Percent Graph — 14 probes across, 0–100 percent grid, a field for the team's own criterion
- Caseload Summary — 16 rows: student, position(s) targeted, baseline, current, trend, decision
Share And Write
- Practice at Home — a family update built from the same pictures used in session, a weekly practice table, and lines for what a family noticed outside of practice time
- Phrase Bank — observable-language starters across 5 groups (accuracy, the picture task, carryover, the log and graph, the caseload page)
- Filled Example — an invented student, eight probes, every percent re-counted from its own row
What This Is, And What It Is Not
It is a fillable PDF: type into the log, graph, caseload page, family page, and probe-form headers, or print and use a pen. It works offline with no account or subscription. It is NOT an editable online slideshow or word-processor document, and it is not a norm-referenced or standardized test.
It carries no elicitation, cueing or stimulability script. It does not decide what counts as a correct production, a criterion, or a typical rate for the prevocalic /r/ sound — every one of those is this clinician's own call, written once and reused every session. Pictures replace the printed word list a child cannot yet read; they do not replace the clinician's scoring rule.
Who This Is For
Speech-language pathologists and special education teams with young or pre-reading students working specifically on the prevocalic /r/ sound, and the families who get the practice page sent home.
If A Student Is Also Working On Medial Or Final /R/
This product covers prevocalic position only. The full R Sound Articulation Picture Cards product (listed by this store) covers initial, medial and final positions together. For students working on multiple positions at once, each position is tracked separately.
