About this resource
Listen, solve, find the answer, cover it, get 3 in a row. Or roll a die and race along a path, solving the problem on each square. Thanksgiving Math Bingo is a kit of two games for kindergarten through second grade: 8 number boards, 70 calling cards in four decks to cut out, two Roll and Solve paths for two players, caller sheets with every answer, a blank board, blank cards, a blank path and a game record. The caller reads a problem, a number word or a more-or-less question; the child works out the answer and covers it on a board of 9 numbers. Every student page has a big "My name" line, one short instruction, and big numbers in boxes a small hand can cover. Untimed: no clock, no score on the child's page.
EVERYTHING INSIDE (30 pages: 18 student pages, 12 for you)
- 8 number boards, each a 3 x 3 grid of 9 numbers (72 squares): 4 Within 10 boards and 4 Within 20 boards. Every board holds a different set of numbers in its own order
- 70 calling cards to cut, in 4 decks, one deck per page: Deck 1 add and subtract within 10 (10 cards), Deck 2 add and subtract within 20 (20 cards), Deck 3 number words, one to twenty (20 cards), Deck 4 which is more or less, 1 to 20 (20 cards). Plus a page of 20 blank cards. Cards sit edge to edge, so the cutting is a few straight cuts
- 2 Roll and Solve paths for two players, 20 squares each: START, 18 problems, FINISH (36 problems), one for addition and one for subtraction, plus 1 blank path
- 1 blank board to write your own 9 numbers, and a strip showing the three ways to get 3 in a row
- My Games: a game record the child fills in, with a star to color for BINGO
- 2 caller sheets that list every card with its answer and the boards that have it, 1 rules and ways-to-play page (6 ways), 2 check pages (every board, and every path square with its answer)
- A tracker, a filled example (an invented student), a family page, and Start Here and a "What's next" back page
Built For The Child, Not The Office
Every student page has a big "My name" line, one short instruction with a picture (an ear, a die, scissors or a pencil), and big numbers in the rounded font. A little drawn pumpkin and a pie slice keep it Thanksgiving. Everything for you (rules, caller sheets, tracking) is on separate teacher pages.
Three Levels, Marked By Dots
One dot: a Within 10 board and Deck 1. Two dots: a Within 20 board, Decks 2 to 4, or a Roll and Solve path. Three dots: the blank pages, for your own numbers. The dots are the only level code, so children at one table are not comparing papers.
Every Board And Card Is Checked
Every card has one answer from 1 to 20 and every answer has exactly one card in its deck. The caller sheets print each card with its answer, so you can check a child's answer in a glance. Every board has its own set of numbers, and between them the four Within 20 boards use every answer from 1 to 20.
Type In, Or Print
The name and date lines, the blank pages, the path answer boxes, the game record, the tracker and the family page are type-in fields in any PDF reader; the boards and cards are always printed. Every page also prints clean in black and white. This is a fillable PDF; it is not a Google Slides, Google Docs or PowerPoint file.
Who This Is For
Kindergarten, first and second grade teachers, special education and resource room teachers, interventionists, and families who want a math game that needs only a printer, scissors, a die and something to cover the numbers with.
What This Is, And What It Is Not
Two games for practicing addition and subtraction within 20, number words and comparing numbers, with the record-keeping around it. It is not a timed fluency probe or a goal page, not a full math curriculum, and not a claim about any student's age, grade level or rate of progress.
